Kansas State vs Baylor: Big 12 Tournament Open Game Thread

Round 3 of Cats versus Bears

NCAA Basketball: Washington State at Kansas State Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

It’s win or go home time. Time for the Wildcats to show us how much they really want to keep playing. Time for Bruce Weber to show us how much he really wants to keep his job.

The Kansas State Wildcats enter the Big 12 Tournament as the 6-seed thanks to winning their final two games of the regular season. They will face 3-seed #9/10 Baylor in the Quarterfinals, who the Wildcats lost to in Manhattan, but beat on a last-second block in Waco.

The Cats need to win this game to improve to the right side of the NCAA Tournament bubble, and really need two wins to lock up a spot. And this team is capable of it, which makes the 19-12 (8-10) regular season so frustrating. If the Cats can make it to the finals the road to a championship is already easier, as nemesis Kansas was already eliminated but the Horned Frogs of TCU.

But it’s one game at a time, and Wesley Iwundu and D.J. Johnson need to make sure their teammates are aware that they want to keep playing, and want to make it to The Big Dance. Everyone needs to show up tonight for the Wildcats to win this.

Tonight’s game is slated for an 8:00pm CT tip and will be broadcast on ESPNU with Jon Sciambi (play-by-play) and Miles Simon (analyst) on the call. Streaming may be available to you (depending on your location and provider/package) at Audio, as always, is available on the K-State Sports Network (Sirius 137/XM 199) and streaming online at with the venerable Wyatt Thompson (play-by-play) and Stan Weber (analyst) calling the game.
