It’s Final Four time, a day earlier than usual. As opposed to their prior practice of having the women playing a day later than the men, the NCAA Tournament has moved the women to Friday-Sunday rather than Sunday-Tuesday.
Tonight’s games begin at 6:30pm CT at American Airlines Center in Dallas. Stanford, a 2-seed, takes on 1-seed South Carolina. It’s sort of a painfully obvious thing to say, but if anyone’s going to dethrone Connecticut, it will be the winner of this game. But it’s also true in the abstract. These may very well be the two teams in the country best suited to give the Huskies a run, but that still hasn’t worked out so well recently.
Thirty minutes after that game’s conclusion, top seed Connecticut takes on Mississippi State, another 2-seed. All best wishes to the ladies from Starkvegas, but I think we all know how this one’s going to end.
Both games air on ESPN2 with Dave O’Brien, Kara Lawson, Doris Burke, and Holly Rowe.
This is your live thread, for those of you who’ll be watching college basketball instead of Roger Federer or Russell Westbrook. See you tomorrow for the BIG event.
