The selection committee begrudgingly gave Kansas State the tournament’s final at-large spot Sunday afternoon and a matchup against Wake Forest, so less than six hours later Les Johns, publisher of Demon Deacon Digest (NOT Deacon Digest, that’s an entirely different thing) graciously accepted an invitation to call in and talk about the matchup. We started with a brief history of Wake’s odd mascot and moved on to basketball things, including the enormous task K-State will have in defending legit NBA prospect John Collins.
But Keyshawn Woods and Bryant Crawford are capable scorers as well, and basically the whole team can shoot from 3-point range and the free throw line. Les says they’re not so good at defense, so he’s expecting a high scoring game, although unlike Kansas State Wake Forest enters the tourney riding a decent wave of momentum.
Finally, we discussed what would happen if the coaching staffs dressed out and played a little pickup. Hopefully you’ll enjoy it. Don’t forget to check out coverage of Demon Deacon Digest and follow Les on Twitter at @Les_Johns as he heads to Dayton for Tuesday night’s game.
