The brackets for the 2017 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament have been announced, and as expected K-State managed to work their way into the 68-team field. The Wildcats earned an 11 seed in the South region, and will be traveling to University of Dayton Arena in Dayton, Ohio, for a Tuesday matchup at approximately 8:10 pm CT. They’ll face the also-11th-seeded Wake Forest Demon Deacons (19-13). Wake Forest’s tie to K-State, as it were, is their head coach: former nemesis Danny Manning.
A win in that game would set up a clash with the 6th-seeded Cincinnati Bearcats (29-4) on Friday in Sacramento, Calif.
This marks K-State’s third NCAA Tournament appearance in the last five years and seventh in the last ten; it’s the 29th appearance overall for the 20-13 Wildcats. Only 22 teams have received more invitations.
We’ll have more on the matchup, the overall bracket, and K-State’s potential path forward as the week unfolds. Stay tuned!
