As fans, or even the reporters who cover the team, we see only a small part of what goes on within Kansas State’s football program. Fortunately, former Kansas State center Nick Leckey is around to offer Tye and I some knowledge and perspective about some of the things we don’t see behind the scenes. While some claim to see a team teetering on the brink of disaster and a coaching staff that needs some shaking up, Nick sees a team fully capable of winning five straight games to win the regular season.
Of course, he’s aware of some of the issues, notably poor coverage on defense and difficulty finding consistency, especially in the passing game. Unfortunately, after this Saturday’s game at Kansas, it’s going to be a tough slog through the rest of the Big 12 schedule. Nonetheless, Nick is confident the talent is there and the coaching staff can address some key questions (Hi, Alex Barnes) in time to turn this season around.
Oh, we also briefly mentioned Kansas, as well as the rest of a difficult schedule to end the season. Don’t forget to follow Nick on Twitter @mrleckey if you don’t already.
