Are we over last weekend’s bitter disappointment yet? No? Good.
Saturday morning, maybe that will turn into euphoria, but it’s not likely.
The game
Kansas State (3-2, 1-1 Big 12) hosts the 6th-ranked Texas Christian Horned Frogs (5-0, 2-0 Big 12). The all-time series between the two schools is knotted at five wins each after last year’s 30-6 Wildcat Victory in Fort Worth. In Manhattan, the Cats hold a 3-2 edge, although the last time TCU came to town the Cats blew a 17-point lead.
Odds
TCU opened as a 4½-point favorite, and just like last week that spread has increased; the line is now -6½. Also mirroring last week, and the week before, the total opened at 53, but has slid to 50 over the course of the week. Based on odds, one should expect a 29-22 TCU win. OddsShark’s computer projection, after overvaluing K-State for weeks, now tends to agree with the bettors; they’re picking a 36.6-32.4 TCU win.
Kickoff
Saturday, October 14 at 11:00am CT, Bill Snyder Family Stadium (50,000) in Manhattan, Kansas.
Tickets
Sold out, and it’s a hot ticket. The secondary market starts at $49 for seats in the upper deck on the east side; virtually every available ticket in the lower level is over $60, with the average price topping $80 and a bunch of tickets in three figures.
Television
FS1, with Joe Davis, Brady Quinn, and Bruce Feldman.
Radio
K-State Sports Network, with Wyatt Thompson, Stan Weber, and Matt Walters, also available via satellite on Sirius channel 81. (No XM this week, apparently.) In Texas, the Frogs are basically only on the air in the DFW market, but their station is a massive one: the clear-channel behemoth WBAP 820 AM/99.5.2 FM. Brian Estridge, John Denton, and Landry Burdine have the call for the Frogs.
