Oklahoma heads to Bramlage

Kansas State Men’s Basketball will be hosting Oklahoma this afternoon... here is what to expect

NCAA Basketball: Kansas State at Colorado State Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

Things aren’t really the same since Buddy Hield left Oklahoma. It wasn’t that long ago when Oklahoma looked unstoppable (until Villanova) in the NCAA Tournament, now the Sooners are 6-7 on a rather dismal season opening. The Sooners are coming into Manhattan on a streak, a losing streak. With four straight losses, two of those in conference play, the Sooners are looking to snap out of this streak and get a win.

Lon Kruger has a young team and happens to be missing their senior guard Jordan Woodard, a play maker and leader among the team. Just how much of a difference was he making? Woodard averaged 17.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.6 assists before being injured. Not only are they missing Woodard, head coach Lon Kruger doesn’t exactly have the best record in the Octagon of Doom... 1-4 to be exact.

Kansas State is coming off a heartbreaking road loss to Kansas, even though the game gave many Wildcats fans a new look at the team that refuses to quit. Gone are the days of 20 point losses at Allen Fieldhouse? That is yet to be determined. However, our young squad managed to shake up the top ranked Jayhawks and that is saying something.

Despite the “travel seen round the world,” the Wildcats came up short and now have two losses on the season, both in very close games. This afternoon should be a great way for the Wildcats to bounce back after the loss to Kansas, so expect to see the team playing with some emotion behind them.

Tune into ESPNEWS at 2:00 CT and watch the K-State squad host the Sooners.
