As Kansas State fans, we are truly #blessed with our football program. Not only do we have commits from all over our home state, we are lucky to get commitments from some of the biggest hot beds of recruiting in the nation. Meet Bernard Goodwater, a 5’9 running back in Dallas, Texas. Goodwater chose Kansas State for his academic and athletic advancement in college even with offers from the Army, Illinois State, Bowling Green and New Mexico... just to name a few. A solid three stars across the board, Goodwater is the type of all-purpose back that truly thrives in the Kansas State offense.
It is no surprise that this year’s class of 23 commits (24 including walk-on) is much larger than last year’s 16 commits. What does that mean? More excitement, more depth and more of what we saw with last year’s team truly being a big family. With Bernard Goodwater, K-State is landing a multi-talented athlete that performs well in more than one sport. Goodwater’s performance in track led to being a state finalist in the 2015-16 season. In an incredibly deep running-back class for 2017, Goodwater was an honorable mention for the top five running backs in the Dallas area, an impressive feat in such a large market.
For those of you looking forward to the Blazin’ Challenge that the other commits seem eager to try, you might want to stop reading after I asked him about the competition. Other than disappointing fans of the new #spicyboyz movement in 2017’s commitment class, Goodwater is passionate about being a Kansas State Wildcat.
Gracey Terrill: With the success of the 2016 Kansas State team, how are you feeling going into the 2017 season?
Bernard Goodwater: I'm very excited about this upcoming season... big things in the future!
GT: The excitement throughout the K-State fan base for the 2017 season is already building and the season is so far away, what are you looking forward to most about playing for K-State?
BG: Playing in the home games and seeing all the purple support.
GT: There has been some talk with fellow members of the 2017 commitment class about doing a Blazin’ Challenge at Buffalo Wild Wings... would you be down for some team bonding over wings?
BG: I would... but I don't like hot n (SPICY) wings LOL!
GT: One last question, if you could share one reason that you are excited to be part of the K-State family with other recruits… what would it be?
BG: I love the Class of 2017 we're all brothers, we talk all the time ready to be on campus with them all!
Welcome to the Kansas State #FAMILY and we look forward to seeing your future success on and off the field!
