The season has not thus far been loaded with tests for the K-State Wildcats. Today’s game may not be much of one either, but even at that it’s one of the top three games on the schedule thus far. How the team performs this evening will go a long way toward formulating our opinions as the Big 12 season looms.

The game

Kansas State (8-1, 0-0 Big 12) hosts the Tulsa Golden Hurricane (4-4, 0-0 American) in the 2017 Wichita Wildcat Classic. Unbelievably, despite only 250 miles separating the two schools and the regional prominence both programs enjoyed before Big Realignment became a thing, this will be only the seventh meeting all-time between the two schools.

Perhaps even more unbelievably, Tulsa leads the series 5-1. The last meeting was a 72-61 loss in 1990, the sixth game of the Dana Altman era. Bruce Weber is 2-0 against Tulsa prior to coming to Manhattan; he’s 0-1 against Frank Haith. Something’s gotta give here, folks.

Odds

K-State is a 9½-point favorite, with the over sitting at 145. That leaves us with a Vegas prediction of 77-67 or so. OddsShark’s magic machine predicts the trifecta of a K-State win, cover, and over: 83-71 Wildcats.
