Unblemished thus far, albeit only a week into the season, both Kansas State basketball squads are set for another Friday night doubleheader in the Octagon of Doom.

The games

Women: Kansas State (2-0, 0-0 Big 12) hosts the Florida A&M Rattlers (0-1, 0-0 MEAC). This is the first meeting between the two schools. Florida A&M is a middling program in the nation’s premiere HBCU conference; head coach LeDawn Gibson, who survived a discrimination investigation this spring, is six games below .500 in ten years at the school.

Men: Kansas State (2-0, 0-0 Big 12) hosts the Cal-Irvine Anteaters (2-1, 0-0 Big West). This too is the first meeting between the programs. Cal-Irvine has been a notoriously scrappy mid-major opponent in recent years, owing largely to the presence of Mamadou N’Diaye, but even in his absence this spring the Anteaters made an NIT appearance. Former Golden State Warriors assistant Russell Turner, in his eighth year at the helm, has won three Big West regular season titles in four years — and the year the Anteaters didn’t win the title, they won the Big West tournament.

Odds

No line on the women’s game, but the men are favored by 14½. There is no over/under.

Tipoff

Women: Friday, November 17 at 5:30pm CT, Bramlage Coliseum (12,528) in Manhattan, Kansas. The men’s game will tip off at 8:10pm, or 30 minutes after the women’s game ends, whichever is later.
