Texas gets revenge on Notre Dame, K-State soccer wins in Omaha

Happy Labor Day.

On the one hand, it’s Texas. On the other, they beat Notre Dame, so it’s all good.

Some of us have to work today. Some of us even have to work two jobs today. Those of you who aren’t in this boat, enjoy your holiday.

The Longhorn hype machine is at full throttle now as Texas got even with Notre Dame with a thrilling overtime win in Austin last night. It was definitely a statement, and I think we can all acknowledge that Texas is now relevant again.

At the same time, they don’t seem to have much of a defense, so the odds of them escaping Manhappiness with a win later in the year seem slim.

Tonight, Week One finally comes to a close as Ole Miss faces Florida State in a game where nobody neutral can root for either team. Fun times.

On the homefront, K-State soccer got back to .500 (2-2-2) with a 1-0 win over Nebraska-Omaha. In the 63rd minute, Dora Gallo scored her second goal of the season on a cross into the center of the box from teammate Laramie Hall. Tony Boone of the Omaha World-Herald has alternate coverage.

Next up for the Cats: another weekend roadie, this time in Arkansas. Friday they’ll be in Conway to face Central Arkansas, and they’ll visit the capital on Sunday for a game against UALR.

That’s it for today. Our question for the commentariat: who’s your top five after (most of) week one?
