K-State vs. Omaha: Open Game Thread

The Cats face the Mavericks tonight in Bramlage

NCAA Basketball: Big 12 Conference Tournament-Kansas State vs Oklahoma State Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

K-State will face it’s second Summit League opponent in five days, this time the Mavericks of Nebraska-Omaha.

The Mavericks enter into tonight's match-up at 1-1 on the young season after splitting a pair of west-coast games, beating UC Santa Barbara 74-60 and losing to USC 72-82 over the weekend. UNO is led by senior guard Tra-Deon Hollins and junior forward Tre’Shawn Thurman, who were both named to the Preseason All-Summit League team. The Wildcats will need to keep an eye on their pockets as Hollins was the nation’s leader in both steals (127) and steals per game (3.9) last season.

K-State opened the season with an 82-55 win over Western Illinois on Friday night, as sophomore Barry Brown paced four Wildcats in double figures with a game-high 18 points. Brown was joined in double figures by senior Wesley Iwundu (17), Sneed (17) and sophomore Kamau Stokes(11). Brown is the only Wildcat to score in double figures in both exhibitions and the first game. Senior D.J. Johnson grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds against the Leathernecks, which is the most in a season opener since Ron Anderson had 12 in 2008.

As has become the norm so far this season, the game will be broadcast on FSN Kansas City (state of Kansas/Kansas City metro area) and ESPN3 (outside the state of Kansas), as well as available on K-StateHD.TV. Audio, as always, is available on the K-State Sports Network and streaming online at K-StateSports.com.
