Before we jump into the twilight zone known as Big 12 expansion, Derek provided some good news yesterday, reporting that Jesse Ertz will start against Texas.
Now onto the twilight zone. First, Derek reported that the Big 12 would not expand ‘at this time’. Then the official word came down from David Boren and Bob Bowlsby, the Big 12 will not expand at this time, and expansion is no longer on the conferences agenda.
TB followed by writing a Hamilton scene for Big 12 Expansion.
Football
Unanswered questions still plague the Wildcats, the most important being: Can Kansas State start faster on D, and can anything be done to fix the lackluster offense? (Kellis Robinett, Wichita Eagle)
The lack of quality performances from Kansas State also hurts their start time, as it was announced yesterday that Kansas State will play Iowa State at 11 am. It will be their third straight 11 am kickoff. (kstatesports.com)
Texas defensive tackle Jordan Elliott is not expected to play against the Wildcats, while former K-State commit and current Texas center Zach Shackelford is questionable to play. (Jeff Howe, Texas.247sports.com)
As mentioned about, Bill Snyder expects Jesse Ertz to start against Texas on Saturday. (Ken Corbitt, Capital Journal)
Finally, we wrap up football with conference expansions, and David Boren noting that ‘Bigger isn’t always better’. (Blair Kerkhoff, KC Star)
Soccer
Kansas State dropped their match against Missouri State 2-nil. It’s the Wildcats fifth consecutive road loss, and it continued their scoreless streak which has now reached a total of 358 minutes. Regardless of that this season has to be considered a complete success as the Wildcats sport a 4-8-3 record overall. The final match of their inaugural season is set to kick off at 7 pm this Thursday against the Illinois State Redbirds.
