Kansas State vs Texas A&M: Advocare V100 Texas Bowl Open Game Thread

It’s re-matach time in Houston

NCAA Football: Kansas State at Texas Christian Jim Cowsert-USA TODAY Sports

It’s time. It’s time for the rematch we’ve all been waiting for.

Well, at least since it’s been announced.

The last time the Wildcats and the Aggies met on the football field, the Wildcats pulled off a 4OT thriller in 2011. And then the Aggies went crawling off to the SEC because they were tired of losing to K-State.*

(*totally not true, the Aggies were tired of having to play second-fiddle to Texas, so they chose to play third/fourth-fiddle to Bama, Auburn, and LSU)

Your Kansas State Wildcats earned the right to represent the Big 12 in Houston thanks to an win over TCU in the last regular season game and an 8-4 record. The Cats have won their last three, including two road trips to the Lone Star State, in commanding fashion. The Texas A&M Aggies were slotted here by the SEC conference due to easy travel, and lost four of their last six. K-State may well feel stronger about this game than A&M.

Also, K-State won the Rodeo Bowl, an annual Texas Bowl pre-game tradition, and the Rodeo Bowl winner has won the Texas Bowl in nine of the ten games played. The last time the Rodeo Bowl winner didn’t win the Texas Bowl? 2006, when K-State, coached by Ron Prince, won the Rodeo, then got stomped by Rutgers. I don’t think that data point is statistically significant.

So cheer loud, wear your purple proudly, and lets go beat the heck outta them Aggies!

Be sure to hit our pregame content, including AMS’s How to Watch post for all your vital media information and TB’s Kicking the Tires preview for equally vital on-field information and stats. And remember, if you're in Houston cheer on all your Wildcats.

The game starts at 8:00pm GOTZ tonight in Houston, but we wanted to give you a little extra time tonight to get your Aggie hate on. Enjoy.

GO CATS!!!
