Kansas State at Oklahoma: Open Game Thread

Stormin’ Norman Time

NCAA Football: Kansas State at West Virginia Ben Queen-USA TODAY Sports

It’s that time. Your Kansas State Wildcats head into Norman, OK looking to pull off the wildly unprecedented: win three straight, at home, against Bob Stoops and his Oklahoma Sooners.

And yet again, we’ll be headed in to this game with an offense still looking for answers. Can Jesse Ertz consistently hit receivers? Can the running game get consistent production? Can the offense help out the defense by staying on the field longer than three plays? Unless something crazy happens, the offense will still look to get help scoring the ball from the defense and special teams, at the least setting up the Cat offense with great field position, if not out-right scoring on their own.

At least we have a full grasp on what the defense is going to do. After weathering the storm of one of the most explosive offenses in the country, the Wildcats defense looks like it is capable of taking on anyone and giving the team a chance to win. However the Sooners will throw a different look at the Cats than Tech did, as the OU offense features a heavy dose of running backs Joe Mixon and Samaje Perine. But like Jordan Willis told Reggie Walker, if the defense does it’s job and plays fundamentally sound, then OU’s offense is just as beatable as any other (Houston agrees).

At the very least, as long as the Cats actually show up for this game, it can’t be any worse than last year’s 55-0 debacle in Manhattan.
