#77 Nick Kaltmayer |
Position: Offensive Line Previous College: Western Illinois Projection: Redshirt Status: On Scholarship |
Nicholas David Kaltmayer (b. June 13, 1997) is an offensive lineman who is transferring in from Western Illinois, which competes in the Football Championship Subdivision's Missouri Valley Conference.
Because he is transferring from a lower level, I am unsure if he will have to sit out 2016, but our depth at offensive line is sufficient enough (although untested) that I expect he will redshirt regardless.
Kaltmayer played under head coach Matt Martin for Edwardsville (Ill.) High School, where he earned first-team All-Southwestern Conference honors following his senior year, while he was a second-team honoree as a junior.
He also picked up first-team All-St. Louis Metro Area accolades, was an Academic All-State performer, and lettered in basketball and track and field.
His No. 1 sports highlight for the Tigers was playing East St. Louis his junior year, when they scored a TD in the last minute, went for two and got it on the longest play of his career. You can watch his other prep highlights here.
Kaltmayer played in six of the final seven games of the season as a true freshman at Western Illinois, including a start at eventual five-time national champion North Dakota State. Watch Kaltmayer in action at Western Illinois here.
He helped the Leathernecks earn wins at No. 10 Youngstown State, at South Dakota and vs. No. 18 Indiana State.
