18 DAYS TO 2016 KICKOFF: Brogan Barry

In which BracketCat counts down the 18th day until the 2016 kickoff with a profile of defensive back Brogan Barry.

Jonathan Beasley was really the only prominent K-State player to wear No. 18, so his picture gets profiled today. But he and Brogan Barry have nothing else in common other than their number.

Status: Preferred Walk-On

Brogan Cole Barry (b. Dec. 22, 1994) is a preferred walk-on defensive back who was one of the top contributors on special teams early in his sophomore season. He led the White team this spring with 11 total tackles (10 solo).

He will continue to play a significant role on the specialty units in 2016 while battling for playing time as a safety.

Barry was named to The Topeka Capital-Journal's all-city first team as a senior at Hayden High School in Topeka.

He also was named an all-league and all-state pick in 2012; the team MVP following his senior season; and an all-city and all-league honorable mention selection as a junior. He also participated in basketball, track and field.

After redshirting in 2013 and not seeing any game action in 2014, Barry appeared in five games last season, including each of the first four. He totaled five tackles on the season, all collected in special teams appearances.

Barry set a career high with two tackles against Louisiana Tech, both coming on kickoff coverage.
