Colby Dean Moore (b. Feb. 1, 1996) is an athletic player who was an integral part of the special teams as a redshirt freshman. He switched from defensive back to wide receiver and will compete for more playing time in 2016.
Moore is a preferred walk-on from Liberty Christian High School. He also has experience playing quarterback, as well as participating in wrestling and track and field. He caught one pass for 4 yards in the 2016 spring game.
He was a starter for the Warriors during his senior year under head coach Greg Price, and helped to lead Liberty Christian to a 9-4 record and a trip to the state semifinals during the 2013 season as he earned all-district honors.
Moore also prepped at Springtown High School, where he was named a first-team Texas Class 3A All-District 6 performer as a junior after leading the Porcupines to a 6-5 record and an appearance in the Texas Class 3A Division 2 state playoffs. He also earned all-county honors as both a sophomore and junior.
After redshirting in 2014, Moore played in nine games last season, tying for second on the team with eight special teams tackles. He tallied four tackles on kickoff coverage and four on punt coverage.
Moore had a season-high three tackles on two occasions, at Texas and at Kansas. He also had tackles at Texas Tech and against West Virginia. It remains to be seen how his move to wide receiver will change his playing time.
