70 DAYS TO 2016 KICKOFF: Will Ash

In which BracketCat counts down the 70th day until the 2016 kickoff with a profile of offensive lineman Will Ash.

Anyone remember John Robertson? He played the same position and wore the same number as Will Ash. That's all the connections I've got today, sorry.

William Thomas Ash (b. Feb. 23, 1994) is a big offensive lineman who walked on and redshirted in 2012 before being awarded a scholarship prior to the 2014 season.

Ash has played in 36 career games on field goal protection and as a reserve lineman. He finally will compete for a starting spot in the interior offensive line in 2016. He started the 2016 spring game at right guard for the Purples.

He helped lead Cathedral High School to consecutive state titles as a junior and senior, earning all-city honorable mentions. He also threw the shot put (45-7) and discus (129-0) in track, and lettered in wrestling and track and field.

Ash, who fell through the recruiting cracks, was the top performer in the bench press at the Colts Combine with 28 reps of 185 pounds.

After redshirting in 2012, Ash played in 11 games in 2013 on field-goal protection and as a reserve offensive lineman. He saw time in all 13 games in 2014, mainly on field goals, and played in five games as a reserve offensive lineman. This continued in 2015 when he saw action in 12 games, again mainly on field goal protection.
