#72 Evan Curl |
Position: Offensive Line Previous College: None Projection: Third-String Status: On Scholarship |
Evan William Curl (March 20, 1997) is a talented young offensive lineman who used a redshirt season in 2015.
He will compete for playing time along the offensive line as a redshirt freshman. He's also an Eagle Scout who will major in mechanical engineering and picked K-State over offers from Cal, North Texas, and Oklahoma State.
Curl lettered two years under head coach Dane Johnson for Flower Mound High School, where he predominantly played left tackle for the Jaguars. He could play guard or tackle for us. Watch his high school highlights here.
A second-team All-District 6-6A performer as both a junior and senior, Curl earned second-team academic all-state honors and was a team captain in 2014. He also wrestled, finishing third in district play in the heavyweight division.
He played sparingly for the White team in the 2016 spring game. I'm projecting him as the third-string left guard.
Curl says his style of play fits perfectly with the uptempo nature of the Big 12 Conference, he told GoPowercat.com:
"With a lot of schools in the conference, running that spread offense, you have to be a quick moving lineman who is agile in space," says Curl, who hopes to rebound in his senior season from a 2-8 record in 2013.
"At Flower Mound, we run this crazy, widespread style, but it helps me a lot at being able to move with a wide base or wide stance."
