#84 Cody Savage |
Position: Wide Receiver Previous College: Hutchinson Community College Projection: Scout Team Status: Walk-On |
Cody Savage is a junior college transfer who will join K-State this summer as a preferred walk-on at wide receiver.
He's taking the number of walk-on tight end Zach Heiman, who has elected to leave the team for reasons unknown.
A two-year starting quarterback at Canton-Galva Jr./Sr. High School under his father, head coach Jeff Savage, Cody helped the Eagles to earn a 5-4 record as a senior in 2013 — the school’s first winning season in five years — and went on to earn honorable mention All-State honors from The Topeka Capital-Journal and The Wichita Eagle.
Savage then played parts of two seasons at Hutchinson Community College under head coach Rion Rhoades.
He helped the Blue Dragons to earn a 16-7 record in the 2014 and 2015 seasons, including an 11-1 mark as a freshman in 2014, when he played in six games, hauling in one catch for 17 yards against Bethany College JV.
Savage also saw action in three games as a sophomore, catching two passes for 62 yards — including a long of 43 yards — against Sterling College JV. I wouldn't expect him to have the same impact as, say, a Byron Pringle.
