It's time, citizens. Your first full day of channel-flipping, yelling at the kids to be quiet, feet-kicked-up, beer-swilling football watchin'. It's been a long, long off-season, and now that you've had a few days to remember what football actually is, it's time to hop on that horse and ride.
Our day begins with relatively light appetizers, the perfect opportunity to surf and check out a little bit of everything. The morning block's highlights include Stanford at Northwestern and a pair of potential FCS upsets as Iowa faces last year's runners-up Illinois State and Kansas tries to fend off the Jackrabbits.
Things kick into gear in the afternoon with Auburn and Louisville in the Georgia Dome, alongside BYU-Nebraska and UCLA-Virginia. Our friends in Lubbock will also face an FCS test which isn't a gimme as they take on the Bearkats of Sam Houston State.
Late afternoon brings us the spectacle of Cal having to deal with a band even crazier than Stanford's, and then we swing in to the evening with Arizona State vs Texas A&M, Texas-Notre Dame, and Alabama-Wisconsin kicking off in half-hour waves through the late dinner hour. (And, of course, K-State hosts South Dakota as well.) Finally, we'll have some late action, though not incredibly late; Mississippi State takes on Southern Miss, and Arkansas State travels to Los Angeles to battle with the Trojans.
This is your open thread for the day's action, at least until we fire up our own game thread at 6:30 CT. Have a pleasant Saturday, and try to remember to get up every once in awhile and stretch.
