2015 Final Four, Women's Final Four, WNIT: Saturday results, Sunday schedule

Four games to go, but now everyone's got a loss.

Whoopsie. Kentucky, you are no Connecticut.

Last Night:

Say what you will about evil incarnate and meteors and hating life itself, but last night was something.

Michigan State scored nearly a quarter of the points they'd manage for the entire game before the first media timeout. From that point, Duke outscored the Spartans 75-47, and that's really all you need to know about the early game, isn't it?

The nightcap, though. Wow. After Kentucky went highlight-reel twice in the first minute, Wisconsin quickly hauled them back in and then opened a nine-point lead midway through the first half. The Wildcats chipped away at that lead, finally catching up with two minutes to go before the buzzer, and briefly took the lead before Wisconsin tied it again two seconds before the half.

The Badgers again opened a large lead, going up eight with just under 15 to play. But again Kentucky clawed back, finally busting off an 8-0 run which left them up by four with 6:37 to play. Wisconsin responded with an 8-0 run of their own, aided by a clearly missed shot-clock violation on the tying basket. With 25 ticks left, Kentucky trailed by only one.

Wisconsin went 7-8 from the free throw line in those final 25 seconds, and Kentucky's perfect season lay in ruins.

As for the post-game shenanigans, we're just not going to comment. Mostly because white people don't get to lecture black people about the use of the word which has been thrown at black people for centuries to degrade them. Doing so is nothing more than continuing to behave as if we're superior and need to instruct them on proper behavior. If Frank Kaminsky is offended, let Frank Kaminsky fight the battle. It's not a matter which calls for the entire nation to get involved.

Finally, West Virginia fought hard, but UCLA managed to eke out the win in the WNIT final, thus putting the Big 12's miserable post-season to bed once and for all. Yesterday's results, with our usual conceit of green linked recaps courtesy our friends around the SB Nation college network.
