The Big 12 lurches forward, zombie-like, still alive despite everything.

Last Night:

There will be no basketball on Friday, and for that you can blame the Loyola Ramblers, who last night won their first national tournament since winning the 1963 NCAA title by defeating Louisiana-Monroe on the road. Loyola trailed by four with five minutes to play, but 7-0 run put the Ramblers on top to stay. Loyola's Earl Peterson was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player. Loyola is the eighth different champion in the event's eight-year history.

Meanwhile, in the WNIT, UCLA held off Michigan. The game was tied at 63 with 1:39 left, but after retaking the lead and corralling a rebound UCLA -- aided, strangely enough, by the fact that Michigan hadn't committed enough fouls -- was able to burn clock to help salt away the win.

And over in Morgantown, the Big 12 is still alive. West Virginia fought back from an eight-point second-half hole to force overtime with Temple, then used those extra five minutes to absolutely rout the Owls. Mountaineer Lanay Montgomery had an insane 24 rebounds, just two shy of the WNIT single-game record. The Mountaineers will "host" UCLA on Saturday in the title game, which will be played in Charleston rather than Morgantown.

Tonight:

Two championships will be decided tonight, each one involving a team that's never won a Division I national post-season tournament before. (Seriously. Miami has never won anything. Not even with Rick Barry.) And Evansville, of course, you know about, although they do have a whole slew of Division II trophies in the case at home. Your schedule:
