Yesterday, Bring on the Cats (unofficially), became Bring on the Lumberjacks. And while we remain Lumberjacks for the NCAA Tournament, we still remember our Wildcat roots as the Ladycats made the WNIT Tournament, and will face Akron in the first round.
Neil Greenberg (Washington Post), has your tips to win your office March Madness pool, and we care because he is predicting a Sweet 16 run for our Lumberjacks of Stephen F. Austin
Brandon Gurney (Deseret News), reminds Utah that just a season ago, the Lumberjacks knocked off VCU.
Eamonn Brennan (ESPN.com) ranks all 68 teams in the field, and notes that Stephen F. Austin just might be your best bet for a Cinderella run. Especially since they haven't lost since November 24th.
Lastly, Josh Furlong (KSL.com) ponders the seeding of Utah, and wonders if they are the underdogs even though they are the higher seed.
It appears Cliff Alexander may have played his last game as a Jayhawk, as the NCAA announced they have no plans to reinstate Alexander before the Tournament.
And now that you are full on Lumberjack news, here are your recaps detailing Kansas State's selection to the WNIT
Todd Palmer (KC Star), reports that Missouri, Kansas State, and Missouri State all made the WNIT.
Following last season's debacle, first year head coach Jeff Mittie has the program moving in the right directions as Kansas State will face off against Akron, with the winner facing the winner of Northern Iowa, or Missouri. (Staff reports Topeka Capital Journal).
