Twenty minutes before he was scheduled to officially announce his destination, DeSoto (TX) defensive lineman Bryce English decided to end the suspense -- he's now officially a Wildcat.
English, at 5'11" and a beefy 315, is a three-star who has been all over the place as far as his commitments. He started out by committing to Texas way back in March of 2013, but backed out of that in April of 2014. Three months later, he'd pledged to UCLA, but after an October unofficial visit to Arkansas he once again placed himself on the market. K-State came in late; English visited last week, and that was enough to sway him to spurn TCU and SMU, the two hometown teams still on his radar.
Arizona State, Houston, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, Lousiana Tech, San Diego State, Tulsa, and Wisconsin had all offered English at one time or another, and he'd also had interest from Notre Dame and Baylor.
English does have one drawback which has been a problem during recruitment: his height, which isn't something anyone in strength and conditioning can do anything about. But his production has apparently sold the Wildcat brain trust.
The video of his 2014 highlights is bad -- by which I mean broken, not painful to watch. There are individual 2014 game highlights on Hudl, but we'll offer you English's 2013 highlights here.
