Two NCAA-recognized All-America teams have been announced. Morgan Burns has earned the first-team nod at kick returner in both now, picking up the honor from CBS Sports this morning to go along with Tuesday's USA Today award.
For those keeping track, there are 12 recognized selectors, and the player receiving the first-team honor from more of those selectors than anyone else is the consensus All-American. Burns is now a third of the way there, and that's assuming he only has one other player to compete with.
(This was incorrect. The NCAA only recognizes five selectors, none of whom have announced their selections yet -- the AP, AFCA, FWAA, Sporting News, and Walter Camp. However, by way of comparison, no player last year was chosen as a first-team All-American by both USA Today and CBS without receiving consensus accolades from the five recognized selectors.)
In other words, young Mister Burns' post-season is getting real.
