Missouri players go on strike, demand UM President Tim Wolfe resign

310

This is a fascinating story, and we're going to ask that you refrain from discussing the politics of the situation and Stick to Sports. Missouri's black players have joined in a protest against UM system president Tim Wolfe.

A statement issued by the players reads, "We will no longer participate in any football related activities until President Tim Wolfe resigns or is removed due to his negligence toward marginalized students' experiences."

The players involved will address the situation during their media availability on Monday. If the action continues, and assuming all the black players on the Missouri roster are joining in the protest, half the roster (and nearly 3/4 of the scholarship players) will be absent from next Saturday's game against BYU at Arrowhead Stadium -- and that's assuming the white players on the roster don't also refuse to play in solidarity with their teammates.
