Now that's more like it! After a couple of boring weeks, the Bring On The Cats Top 25 Poll topsy-turviness is back in full force. Every team but two moved at least one spot, and those two each gained at least one first-place vote.
Clemson actually gained three of those, thanks to LSU's fall. The latter Tigers were joined in drops of at least five spots by fellow Week 10 losers TCU, Michigan State, Memphis and Toledo. Losing that first game always sucks.
Their loss was a gain of at least three places for the following teams, though — Ohio State (not sure why, really), Oklahoma State, Iowa, Notre Dame, Oklahoma (again, not quite sure why), Navy and Wisconsin.
The Midshipmen deserve special mention after vaulting up 12 spots, probably the largest rise of that proportion that I've seen this late in the season in the history of this poll. Mid-majors just can't get respect until it's too late, man.
Generally, we appear to be indicting the College Football Playoff committee. As Luke put it, "I've decided if the CFP is going to overrate the SEC and underrate the Big 12 and Pac-12, then I need to do the opposite. It's only fair, right?"
The winner of today's Northwestern-Wisconsin game likely will lay claim to that No. 25 spot next week. And let us bid a fond farewell to underachieving Mississippi and no-longer-asterisk-labeled Duke, who packed their bags.
