K-State 36th in AP, 28th in Coaches Poll, and 18th in Massey Ratings

Once again, the human beings are dumb.

Sorry, Logan Thompson. We're sticking with 18 today.

This week's AP Poll and Amway-USA Today Coaches Poll have been released, and Kansas State remains outside the wall. The coaches have K-State ranked 28th with 66 points, with only Michigan and Arizona separating them from the California-Oregon tie for 24th at 89 points. The writers, on the other hand, still have K-State buried at 36th, with only 12 points. Those 12 points are courtesy of only three writers: Gary Horowitz of the Salem, Ore. Statesman Journal has the Cats 24th; Keith Sargeant of NJ.com has K-State 21st; and the Reno Gazette-Journal's Chris Murry has the Wildcats 19th.

Michigan was the week's big winner, as they leapt back into the top 25 of both polls after receiving not a single vote in either last week. Disaster befell Georgia Tech, falling from the top 25 to no votes in the AP and only 6 points in the coaches' poll. The coaches still, inexplicably, have Auburn on their radar with 8 points; the most egregious such infraction on the part of the writers is Tennessee, who earned four points but also two points from the coaches. We'll get more into the details in this week's Unboxing.

Normally we include the Massey composite index as the third leg of the triangle, but that's not been compiled yet. So this week, our computer comparison is just the Massey Ratings themselves. Last week, there were two teams whose composite rating was 10 or more points higher than both of the two human polls. This week, there is only one, and we'll give you one guess which team that might be.
