41 DAYS TO KICKOFF: Sam Sizelove

In which BracketCat counts down the 41st day until kickoff with a profile of linebacker Sam Sizelove.

Yeah, I'll say it. I think Sam Sizelove has the potential to be the next Mark Simoneau. How's that for hype?

Samuel Creson Sizelove (b. June 18, 1995) is a hard-working freshman who developed during his redshirt season in 2014. He will compete for playing time in 2015 and has the potential to be a future starting strongside linebacker.

Sizelove played for Argyle High School under head coach Todd Rodgers, was named the Defensive MVP of Texas District 10-3A and was a two-time honorable mention all-state pick by the Texas Associated Press Sports Editors.

He was viewed as the 25th-best inside linebacker in the nation by Scout.com and ranks No. 29 at Rivals.com.

Sizelove also ranked 88th on Rivals' Texas Top 100 list and helped the Eagles to win the 2013 Texas Class 3A State championship with more than 100 tackles. His older brother, Jake Sizelove, was a four-year linebacker at Tulsa.

It's hard to contain excitement about this kid's prospects when you read quotes such as these from his coach:

"Sam is a very physical Mike linebacker," Rodgers says. "He has the foot speed to play sideline to sideline and has improved his lateral quickness.

"I have videoed him at legit 4.6 speed and that's with him up to about 225 pounds now and 6-foot-4 and a half."

I just wish Sizelove's buddy and high school teammate, safety prospect Connor Wilson, had stayed committed to the Wildcats instead of defecting to Texas Tech. Those two would have made a hell of a package deal.
