#66 Logan O'Dea |
Position: Defensive Tackle Previous College: None Projection: Third-String Status: Walk-On |
Logan Patrick O'Dea (b. Feb. 8, 1994) is a walk-on defensive tackle who redshirted in 2012 and did not see any game action in 2013 or 2014, but earned the Red Raider Award as the top contributor on the 2014 scout squad.
O'Dea had one tackle of Glenn Gronkowski for the White team in the 2013 spring game and a sack of Jake Waters for the same team in the 2014 spring exhibition. He did not record any statistics in this year's spring game.
I gave O'Dea the nod ahead of Mitch Copeland for the last defensive tackle spot in the three-deep based on seniority, but if the coaches elect not to redshirt Bryce English, then it's moot and both will be on the scout team.
O'Dea was a four-year starter for Wellsville High School under head coach Mark Luedtke. He led the Eagles to a 10-1 record in 2011 and was named Kansas Class 3A Defensive Player of the Year.
He was a first-team all-state pick as both an offensive and defensive lineman. He totaled 137 tackles, which led all defensive linemen in the state. He also carded 27 tackles for loss and five sacks during the 2011 campaign.
O'Dea was selected to participate in the 2012 Kansas Shrine Bowl. Additionally, he was a two-time state medalist in discus and also medaled in the shot put, setting league records in both events.
He also lettered in basketball, and he was the 2012 Kansas Class 3A powerlifting champion and set the state record in bench press. He earned a 4.0 grade-point average and was named the class valedictorian.
