70 DAYS TO KICKOFF: Will Ash

In which BracketCat counts down the 70th day until kickoff with a profile of offensive lineman Will Ash.

Anyone remember John Robertson? He played the same position and wore the same number as Will Ash. That's all the connections I've got today, sorry.

William Thomas Ash (b. Feb. 23, 1994) is a big offensive lineman who walked on and redshirted in 2012 before being awarded a scholarship prior to the 2014 season. He has a lot of potential, but fell through recruiting cracks.

He has developed over the last three seasons and will compete for a starting spot in 2015, although it is more likely that he will continue to back up Boston Stiverson at left guard before stepping into that spot next year as a senior.

After redshirting, Ash played in 11 games in 2013 on field-goal protection and as a reserve offensive lineman. He saw time in all 13 games last year, mainly on field goals, and played in five games as a reserve offensive lineman.

Ash was the top performer in the bench press at the Colts Combine with 28 reps of 185 pounds.

He helped lead Cathedral High School to consecutive state titles as a junior and senior, earning all-city honorable mentions. He also threw the shot put (45-7) and discus (129-0) in track, and lettered in wrestling and track and field.
