#97 Demonte Hood |
Position: Defensive Tackle Previous College: None Projection: Second-String Status: On Scholarship |
Demonte Q. Hood (b. Aug. 20, 1993) is a big defensive lineman who has been a member of the playing rotation in each of the last two years and will compete for a starting spot in 2015.
Hood saw action in seven games last year, carding four tackles. He made two stops at West Virginia, and one apiece against UTEP and Baylor.
He played in nine games as a reserve in 2013, compiling seven tackles, including 1.5 for loss, and a nine-yard sack at Kansas. He collected three stops against UMass and two against North Dakota State.
A raw, but ideally sized defensive tackle from Bowie High School, Hood had 60 tackles, seven tackles for loss and two sacks in 2011, and he was a first-team All-District 4-5A selection. He had 87 tackles and 3.5 sacks as a junior.
Although I think Hood has come a long way since his redshirt season, it's hard to project him beating out either Travis Britz or Will Geary. I look for him to be a large part of the defensive tackle rotation, along with Matt Seiwert.
