We're not trying to be pessimists, but the only thing harder than winning in Lawrence of late has been winning in Ames.

(19-9, 8-7 Big 12)

Allen Field House may be hell, but Hilton Coliseum is its own house of horrors for the Wildcats. K-State hasn't won there under Bruce Weber. But the trauma of Hilton isn't that the Cats go there and get blown out. No, they go to Ames and put up a fight and lose in the most painful ways imaginable -- or, at least, it sure seems that way. Breaking that trend today would be a huge boost to K-State's post-season dreams.

The game: Kansas State visits the Iowa State Cyclones. K-State leads the series 137-84, although Iowa State has a 21-20 lead in the Big 12 era thanks to their win in Manhattan on January 16. In Ames, the Wildcats hold a narrow 50-48 edge. Bruce Weber is 3-5 against the Cyclones and 0-3 at Hilton; this is Steve Prohm's second meeting with K-State following that 76-63 win in January.

Odds: Iowa State is favored by 9, and the over/under is 148. 78-69 or so, says Vegas.

Tickets: If you're in Ames, tickets are still available for $40, general admission.

Television: ESPN2 at 5:00 CT with Dave LaMont and Fran Fraschilla.

Radio: K-State Sports Network, with Wyatt Thompson and Stan Weber. Also available on satellite on Sirius 113/XM 199 with the Iowa State crew.
