Shelley is a 5'9" Corner from Tucker high school in Tucker, Georgia. Rated a 4-Star by Rivals, and the 22 ranked player at corner, Shelley had offers from Clemson, Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Utah, and Wisconsin.
247sports.com differs slightly from Rivals, listing him as a 3-star, with a composite score of 88. They also note that Shelley was invited to the prestigious "The Opening", all-star summer camp held on Nike's Campus. ESPN insider($) also lists him as a three-star, while noting he runs a 4.77 40 time. ESPN raves about his ball cover skills, noting
He sees the game, understands it and utilizes those instincts to make plays. Possesses a very good knack and exceptional first step to be able to transition from a backpedal to jumping the thrown ball or aggressively filling an alley on a run. Really does a nice job of seeing through the receiver to the quarterback in zone concepts.
His Hudl highlights shows a couple return plays as well, showing he has the speed and acceleration to be a difference maker on kickoff returns. He also shows great skills breaking on the ball, and reading a QB's eyes. (Edit: Hudl has his 40 time listed at 4.64, as verfied by Nike Sparq at "The Opening")
This is a huge get for this class, possibly the best player to commit so far. Possibly the best news coming from Mr. Shelley's commitment is the ability of the current coaching staff to secure a recruit from a player over the likes of schools like Clemson, and Wisconsin. Look for this kid to be a star on the field in the coming seasons.
