#97 Demonte Hood |
Position: Defensive Line Previous College: None Projection: Third-String Status: On Scholarship |
Demonte Q. Hood (b. Aug. 20, 1993) is a big defensive lineman who developed during a redshirt season in 2012 before being a regular in the rotation at defensive tackle in 2013. He should increase his playing time this year.
Hood played in nine games last year as a reserve, compiling seven tackles, including 1.5 for loss, and a nine-yard sack at Kansas. He carded three stops against UMass and two against North Dakota State.
A raw, but ideally sized defensive tackle from Bowie High School, Hood had 60 tackles, seven tackles for loss and two sacks in 2011, and he was a first-team All-District 4-5A selection.
For some reason, Hood participated in the spring game, but amassed no statistics. It's hard to say whether this was due to injury or attitude, but either way, any setbacks could leave him deep on the depth chart.
That's not a good place to be when talents such as Terrell Clinkscales are coming in to challenge for starting roles.
