Tavon Rooks, who started opposite Cornelius Lucas at right tackle for two years after transferring from Navarro Junior College, has been drafted with the 202nd pick in the 6th round by the New Orleans Saints.

Rooks was a two-time honorable mention All-Big 12 selection, never a spectacular talent but steady and consistent through his career in Manhattan. He developed along the way; Rooks was never even so much as an all-city selection in high school back in Baltimore, and he got no major offers coming out of high school, but was the 23rd highest ranked player in the country coming out of JUCO in 2011. He's a sleeper to be sure.

He's not fast -- he ran a 5.20 at Pro Day -- and he could still use some bulking up. The 6'4" 299 tackle pushed 21 reps at Pro Day. Rooks is agile and athletic, however. He was very good in pass protection, able to slide and has good footwork.

Unfortunately, we don't have any Rooks-specific video to share with you.
