2014 NCAA Tournament, D-II, CIT, WNIT, WBI: 3/27 TV Schedule

The main event returns tonight, as a pair of chalk matchups team up with a complete cinderella story.

We're depending on this guy to destroy the evil that is Wisconsin.

Richard Mackson-USA TODAY Sports

Getting the localish news out of the way, the Drury men fell by the wayside, downed by West Liberty. Central Missouri prevailed over Southern Connecticut State, however, to move on to the Division II semifinals. The women's Division II final is set, with 34-0 Bentley to face 31-2 West Texas A&M. That, however, is tomorrow. Today? The Division I men swing back into action, and that's obviously where most of the attention will be. The countdown: 60 (or 61) games remaining. That'll drop by a full 25 percent today, as fifteen more teams go home for the year.

This post is early to help you plan your viewing and/or listening activities, but this will be your open thread for tonight's action. Enjoy!

The early games feature a mid-major cinderella we're all probably rooting for, and the conundrum of having to root for Baylor because the alternative is simply too horrific to contemplate. The late games are both chalk, and while I imagine UCLA-Florida is a lesser-of-two-evils decision for most of you, San Diego State is probably most people's sentimental favorite out west.

CIT games are available through CollegeInsider, but require paid subscription.

A single game tonight in the CIT which will fill out the semifinal bracket. The winner joins Yale, Virginia Military, and Pacific on April 1, and let's just be straight here: if you like offense, you'll want to tune into CBS Sports Network to catch the VMI game, regardless of the opponent.

Pay no attention to EveryManAWildcat over in the corner, who's either freaking out over getting to watch West Liberty on an actual television or being irate that the game's not being streamed because it is on television. West Liberty met Metro State in the semifinals last year; they get to avoid one another tonight. That's relevant in more ways than one; because of the pairings, regardless of who wins tonight, Saturday's championship will pit a prior champion against a team going for their first title.

WOMEN'S NATIONAL INVITATION TOURNAMENT

The largest single block of games remaining in one competition on one day is tonight as the WNIT pares itself down to only nine teams remaining. (The final third-round contest is tomorrow.) We get two intra-conference matchups, and a meeting of teams which were conference-mates a year ago. We also get to see whether South Dakota State can maintain their miracle run.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL INVITATIONAL
ROUND TIME (CT) TEAM - TEAM LOCATION NETWORK ANNOUNCERS

SF 7:00pm (E6) Fairfield vs (E4) Illinois-Chicago Chicago IL Horizon League (free!) n/a

If you have any interest at all in watching the WBI final in any fashion whatsoever, the most important thing tonight is that UIC win. If Fairfield hosts the final, apparently it won't even be streamed. Meanwhile, the Lumberjills (officially the Lady Jacks, but man, the alternative nickname is so cool) will try to gain the opportunity their counterparts couldn't make happen: hanging a banner in Nacogdoches.
