We've now officially put the NAIA and Division III to bed for the year, and it's time to begin the countdown in earnest. As of now, there are 74 (or 75, if the CIT final goes the distance) college basketball games remaining this season. Today may feel like a relatively slow day, with only two Division I games on television, but today actually cuts the remaining game by almost 20%: there are 14 games, six of them in Division II.

There are actually some interesting storylines in tonight's quarterfinals. We've got two Ivy League schools duking it out for a place in the semifinals, and a potential pointsplosion in Athens.

Yesterday, I had said that the men's quarterfinals would be streamed, but it appears I was incorrect. The field includes defending champion Drury, two-time champs Metropolitan State, and former champs Central Missouri. The other five teams are all seeking their first trophy. Half the teams are returnees from last year's Elite Eight; South Carolina-Aiken and West Liberty join Drury and Metro State from that field. It's West Liberty's fourth straight Elite Eight, and the third in a row for Metro.

Only one game on the slate tonight, and old people will already be asleep before it starts. Tomorrow is the bulk of the third round, with six games; the final third-rounder is on Friday.

SF | 5:00pm | (S1) Nova Southeastern | vs | (SC1) West Texas A&M | Erie PA | CBSSN | unknown |

That's right, half the televised basketball tonight is the NCAA Division II women's semifinals. All we've got left is top seeds, and the late semifinal could be wild: Pomona, going for an unprecedented sixth championship, is "only" 26-6, but they play in one of the toughest conferences in the nation. They face 33-0 Bentley, who are, well, 33-0, and the Northeast-10 is no slouch of a league either.
