This week's new polls are out, and as expected K-State suffered after their season-opening sweep at Cal Poly.
In the NCBWA poll, the Wildcats fell from 18th to out of the top 30 entirely. Cal Poly, formerly 29th, moved up to 22nd, the biggest jump in the rankings this week. Oregon State (3-0), third last week, took over the top spot from Cal State-Fullerton (2-1), who slipped to second. Virginia (2-1) fell two spots from second to fourth, and Florida State (3-0) moved up to third. Louisiana State (3-0) completes the top five, moving up a slot; previously fourth-ranked Mississippi State (2-1) fell to seventh. The other big fall in this week's poll belongs to Indiana (1-3), who tumbled from seventh to 16th.
Baseball America's poll is much less volatile, but the Batcats also fell out of their top 25 from their previous spot at 22 -- now occupied by formerly unranked Cal Poly. Virginia and Oregon State remain 1-2, while Cal State-Fullerton and Florida State -- tied for sixth previously -- moved up to third and fourth. South Carolina moved up from seventh to fifth. Indiana fell from third, but remain in the top ten at tenth.
Perfect Game's poll also saw K-State fall from 22 to out, and just as with Baseball America, their spot was taken by the previously unranked Mustangs. The top four remain unchanged -- Virginia, Cal State-Fullerton, Oregon State, and Florida State. Indiana fell from fifth to tenth, and everyone in between simply moved up one, with Mississippi State in fifth.
Finally, the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper poll, who had the Wildcats ranked the lowest of the four to begin with, also dropped K-State out from 28th. Cal Poly was 27th to begin with, and move up one spot. Their top five -- Fullerton, Mississippi State, LSU, Oregon State, and Florida State -- remain unchanged. Indiana dropped from 7th to 15th.
