Ah, the beautiful island paradise of Maui. Will it become a nightmare for the Wildcats, or will this week be the springboard to a successful season? We'll start to find out this afternoon.

The game: Kansas State takes on the Purdue Boilermakers in the opening round of the championship bracket of the EA Sports Maui Invitational. The Wildcats lead the all-time series with Purdue 6-2, and have split the two games the schools have played at a neutral site. You probably don't remember it unless you've got teenage kids, but that neutral site win was in 1988 and put K-State in the Elite Eight. They've only played once since then -- also a K-State win only seven months later in the very first game played at Bramlage Coliseum. And of course, the two schools have ties going back forever, thanks to Gene Keady.

Odds: Purdue is a two point favorite, and OddsShark has the two teams neck and neck in power ranking: 158 for the Boilermakers, 157 for K-State.

Tipoff: Monday, November 24 at 1:30pm CT, Lahaina Civic Center (2,400) in Maui, Hawai'i.

Tickets: Look, let's not be silly. If you're going to this one, you've already got tickets.

Television: ESPN2 with Jon Sciambi and Miles Simon.

Radio: K-State Sports Network, with Wyatt Thompson and Matt Walters. The game will also be on Sirius/XM 85.
