Our long nightmare is coming to an end. It's been 272 long, lonely days since our purple heroes took the field in anger, but tomorrow that empty feeling inside will be replaced with blessed, blessed football. And this time, it's a pretty reasonable assumption that our fall won't begin with confusion, anger, and shame.
The game: Kansas State (0-0, 0-0, 20/21) hosts the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks (0-0, 0-0 Southland). It is the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
Odds: K-State is a prohibitive favorite; at this writing, the game is not on the board in Vegas.
Kickoff: Saturday, August 30 at 6:10pm CT, Bill Snyder Family Stadium (50,000) in Manhattan, Kansas.
Tickets: SRO only, $35 or $20 each with purchase of 4-8 tickets. Tickets on the secondary market are available for $23 or more. It's the 6th annual K-State Family Reunion, and there will be post-game fireworks.
Television: This is K-State's sole non-televised game of the year.
Radio: K-State Sports Network, with Wyatt Thompson, Stan Weber, and Matt Walters; also available on Sirius 112.
Online: Video streaming via KStateHD.tv (subscription only), with the audio provided by the radio team. K-State Gameday begins at 5:10pm, with Brian Smoller and Jon McGraw. Free live audio also available through K-StateHD.tv. Live stats via Gametracker.
Other options: Bring on the Cats hosts Kansas City-area watch parties in partnership with The Granfalloon, located at 608 Ward Parkway in the Country Club Plaza. If you can attend the game, attend the game, but if not, come join us and enjoy the game, good eats, drinks, and the company of your fellow Wildcat faithful. For our opening soiree, Curtis Kitchen and TB will be in attendance, and your Benevolent Despot himself also will be trekking in from the vast uncharted wilds of Oklahoma for the event. Might want to show up between 5-5:30. Click on the Granfalloon logo to check out their menu and get a feel for the place.
