Kansas State matched their gain in the coaches poll, being pushed up six spots in the AP poll released this afternoon.
The interesting part of the AP poll, however, is that Ole Miss and Mississippi State, riding the wave of their twin upset wins yesterday, somehow managed to tie for third place in the writer balloting. I mean, seriously, people. What are the odds?
That situation harmed Baylor the most, easing them down to fifth rather than third. Other largish changes from the coaches' ballot: TCU and Arizona both moved two spots higher on the AP ranking than they did in the coaches', which pushed Oregon down even further and kept Georgia from rising at all. Oklahoma State remains ahead of the Wildcats in the AP, though K-State gained a spot on the Cowboys. And instead of Clemson in the 25th spot, Utah enters the poll at #24 despite receiving no votes at all last week.
Stay tuned tomorrow as we Unbox the Polls and see what the actual point totals have to tell us about what the voters are thinking... if anything.
