As widely expected, Mississippi State unseated Florida State from the top spot in this week's iteration of the Amway Coaches' Poll on the strength of what any sane person must concede has been one heck of a three-week run. There was, however, very little reshuffling this week other than the Bulldogs' jump to the top; teams which lost fell, and teams simply moved up to replace them (with the notable exceptions of Alabama, Georgia, and TCU, all of whom remained exactly where they were last week).
This, of course, means that Kansas State has slid up another two spots to #14, buoyed up by the fall of Arizona and Texas A&M. This sets up a matchup next week in Norman between two teams which are in the top 15, but not quite in the top 10. Oklahoma would certainly return to the top 10 with a win; K-State would require a few upsets.
Departing the poll this week: Missouri, continuing their impression of a Duncan Yo-Yo, Georgia Tech, who finally got exposed, and UCLA, who your benevolent despot has mocked as overrated since week one. Replacing those three are Utah, who were already ranked in the AP, Marshall, rewarded for not losing yet, and USC, returning to the poll after tumbling out last week.
Here's the full ranking. Commence arguments.
