#25 Joseph Bonugli
Position: Defensive Back
Previous College: None
Status: On Scholarship
Joseph R. Bonugli (b. April 4, 1991) is an athletic and hard-hitting defensive back who will look to make an impact in his senior year. Unfortunately, his narrow window for impactful playing time might have closed for good in 2013.
Bonugli redshirted in 2010 and did not play in 2011 after a season-ending injury. He saw his playing time increase in 2012 after persistent injury problems. But in 2013, he did not see any game action at all. That does not bode well.
In 2012, Bonugli finally broke through to see the field. He played in 10 games, mostly on special teams, and collected four tackles — three of those against Texas Tech. The other one came against Missouri State.
Bonugli was rated the 50th-best safety in the class of 2008 by Rivals.com and amassed 194 total tackles during his last two seasons in high school. If healthy, he looks to have a solid chance at entering the three-deep at safety.
