Did you notice a streaking missile taking out returners on special teams several times last year? Yeah, that was Colborn Couchman (57).

Colborn Levi Couchman (b. Nov. 11, 1993) is an in-state walk-on who shined on special teams during his second year in the program. He will look to add more support on special teams and as a reserve linebacker in 2014.

After redshirting in 2012, Couchman saw playing time in the final 11 games of 2013 and came away with a team-best 11 special teams tackles, including 10 on kickoff coverage, on which he became something of a torpedo.

Couchman registered a career-high three tackles in Kansas State's Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl victory, while he also had two stops each against UMass, Baylor, West Virginia and Kansas.

He chose to walk on over offers from junior colleges, Pittsburg State, Emporia State and other Division II schools.

Couchman lettered two years for Scott Community High School under head coach Glenn O'Neil, and led the Beavers to a combined 21-2 record, two league championships and one regional championship.

He was a first-team all-state defensive end in 2011 by the Kansas Football Coaches Association, The Topeka Capital-Journal and The Wichita Eagle after totaling 87 tackles, including 24 for a loss of 102 yards.

He also led the team in solo tackles with 52, was named The Garden City Telegram player of the year, and was a first-team all-league pick on offense after totaling 1,242 rushing yards and 22 touchdowns on 8.2 yards per carry.

Couchman also lettered in track, winning a state championship in the 4x100-meter relay. He participated in the 2012 Kansas Shrine Bowl. He also had nine pass receptions for 138 yards and one touchdown.
