32 DAYS TO KICKOFF: Dakorey Johnson

In which BracketCat counts down the 32nd day until kickoff with a profile of linebacker Dakorey Johnson.

This was one of Dakorey Johnson's six tackles in 2013. He needs to, like, quintuple that number this year.

Dakorey Johnson (b. Jan. 14, 1992) is an athletic linebacker who contributed on special teams as a junior and will compete for playing time as a linebacker in 2014. I project him as the primary backup at weak-side linebacker.

He is the younger brother of star Kansas State wide receiver Quincy Morgan, who still holds the school's single-season records for touchdowns (14) and ranks in the top 10 in six other receiving categories.

Johnson played in eight games in 2013, finishing the season sixth on the team with five special teams tackles and six stops overall. That's OK, I suppose, but I expect much more of him in his senior season.

He recorded a season-high two tackles against Iowa State, a game in which he intercepted a fourth-quarter pass and returned it 39 yards. All things considered, he did pretty well for a late-arriving JUCO player.

Johnson tallied 82 tackles, including seven tackles for loss, and five sacks in his two seasons at Trinity Valley Community College.

He was named a second-team All-District 11-5A linebacker as a senior in 2009 at Mesquite North High School under head coach Mike Robinson.
