#64 Aaron Bennett |
Position: Offensive Line Previous Colleges: Riverside Community College; Texas Tech University Projection: Third-String Status: On Scholarship |
Aaron Bennett was an extremely late addition to the 2013 roster — we didn't even know he was coming to K-State until July 18 of that year, when GoPowercat.com reported the story of his unusual situation.
He helped to pace Riverside College to a 9-2 record in 2012 and a victory over LA Harbor in the Golden State Bowl.
Bennett graded out at 94 percent with 48 pancakes and 68 knockdowns. Watch his highlights here. Here's what Texas Tech's offensive line coach had to say about him in February 2013:
Aaron has great size and length along with great feet. He has the ability to redirect exceptionally well and has a ton of potential.
Bennett signed with Texas Tech out of JUCO two years ago and was set to be a Red Raider. But somehow, a bunch of his credits didn't transfer correctly and Tech dropped him like a hot potato. That left him searching for...
...a JUCO-friendly school where the credits would transfer, preferably still within the Big 12 Conference. Booyah!
Because his decision to "transfer" from Tech didn't occur until after National Signing Day, Bennett was not able to suit up for us last season and had to take a redshirt. That led to assumptions he'd be ready to contribute in 2014.
Alas, early reports from this spring indicate that isn't the case yet. Bennett seems to be struggling with Bill Snyder's system and does not appear poised to earn much playing time this fall, according to those reports.
