78 DAYS TO KICKOFF: Bryce Fitzner

New, 3 comments

In which BracketCat counts down the 78th day until kickoff with a profile of offensive lineman Bryce Fitzner.

Cornelius Lucas left us a mammoth hole to fill at left tackle. Perhaps Bryce Fitzner can hope to fill that hole in a few years.

Status: On Scholarship

Bryce Fitzner (June 24, 1994) is an athletic player who took a year off to become stronger, delaying his enrollment until this spring. He will add depth during his first full year in the program, but is expected to redshirt in 2014.

Fitzner played under head coach John Morrison for Francis Parker High School, where he was a second-team pick at tight end as both a junior and senior.

That led some to believe he would play tight end for us, but the coaches think — and I agree — that his potential ceiling is much higher as an offensive tackle.

Fitzner helped the Lancers to earn California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) runner-up finishes in both 2011 and 2012, while he was a member of the 2009 CIF championship squad. Watch his highlights here.

He also was a three-year letter-winner in basketball and a two-year letter-winner in volleyball.
